The 3rd WPIAL/UPMC James Collins Scholarship Fund Golf Outing benefits the WPIAL Scholarship fund, which was created in 1991 to award scholarships annually to student-athletes from schools and school districts comprising Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) District VII. Since 1992, the league has given $895,000 in scholarships to its WPIAL/James Collins Scholar-Athlete Award recipients, and will celebrate its 36th consecutive year of the award program in 2027. The scholarship funds have reached a concerning level resulting in the need for cash replenishment to continue its mission, which has led to the creation of the WPIAL/UPMC James Collins Scholarship Fund Golf Outing. Come enjoy a round of golf at Quicksilver Golf Club with lunch provided during play, a buffet dinner after completion, various on-course competitions, and a silent auction of various items to benefit the scholar-athletes in the WPIAL.
